Centennial special education students get a look at LIFE @ Siemens

Alpharetta company will "lose" some workers next week when Spring Break rolls around.

Next week, when the Fulton County School System goes on its Spring Break, things could look a little different at Siemens Industry Inc. in Alpharetta. Office mail might go undelivered. Food in the company cafeteria might not be set out as quickly. The recycling bins might go unsorted, and floors and walls might not be as spotless as usual. Of course, companies as large as Siemens have full-time employees for these responsibilities, but none are cheerful or beloved as the five Centennial High School students who work there as part of the LIFE @ Siemens program. Short for “Learning Internship For Employment,” the program is a unique partnership between Fulton County Schools and Siemens to provide special education students with real-life …

All users can add events taking place at local spots, or a business they know is missing from our directory, rate the business on a scale of one to five stars and add a review. But owners of local businesses and places get extra bonuses when they claim a listing. Priority Payment Systems Expands Alpharetta Headquarters

The bank card processing company grew from 5 to 155 employees in just a few years.

Priority Payment Systems of Alpharetta started out with five employees six years ago, but since then it has grown to 155 employees. The additional employees required additional space, so the Westside Parkway offices had to expand. The firm "knocked out" the walls to add 10,000 square feet of space. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, a ribbon cutting marked the expansion. John V. Priore, the company president/CEO and one of its founders, thanked its clients and staff for bringing the company to this stage. In May 2011, the company reported processing more than $450 million bank card volume per month, which would equate to more than $5.4 billion per year. The company continues to grow.
