EndoChoice Honors Heroes During Their Week

The Alpharetta company is making a donation in the four medical professional's names.

An Alpharetta company is honoring four GI (Gastroenterology) professionals who were picked as EndoHeroes in 2012. EndoChoice made the announcement through Marketwire in recorgnition of GI Nurses Day. Each EndoHero will have a donation made in their name to the GI society or department they choose. Value Place Alpharetta Opens, Invites Public to Celebration

The McFarland Road extended stay hotel has a grand opening on Feb. 7 with prizes, but you have to RSVP.

Is the economy on the rebound? It appears the local economy may be, as Value Place Alpharetta is holding its grand opening Thursday, Feb. 7 at its McFarland Parkway location. The extended stay hotel opened its doors recently, and will have the grand opening from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a ribbon cutting, food, tours and prizes. The public is open, but you must RSVP. GM Starts Hiring for North Fulton IT Innovation Center

Between GM, EndoChoice and HP, North Fulton could be adding 1,400 jobs.

Corporations have plans to add as many as 1,400 jobs in North Fulton, starting with GM's announcement today that it has purchased the former UPS building in Roswell with plans to open an IT Innovation Center employing 1,000 people. HP announced early this week that it would move its Customer Solution Center to its Alpharetta campus, creating 200 jobs. EndoChoice entered a merger and acquired a company, with plans to hire as well. Al Nash of Progress Partners Atlanta said many of the 200 or so new hires by EndoChoice are expected in Alpharetta.   Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann took home the "Friends of Business" award from the Regional Business Coalition when she left the Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast Tuesday morning. Avalon Plans Ice Skating from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day

You'll have to wait until 2014 when the mixed-use development in Alpharetta by Old Milton Parkway and GA 400 opens.

Visitors to the Avalon development will get to lace on their skates and hit the ice from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day, Mark Toro told business and community leaders at this week's Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast. "We will build a skating rink outside. We expect to see 40,000 skaters," said  Toro, a partner in North American Properties, owner of the development. He expects a lot of energy to be generated by the 10,000 college students expected to attend Gwinnett Tech's North Fulton campus, planned on a site just across Old Milton Parkway from Avalon. Companies are still looking at the Alpharetta area for their location, two Alpharetta-based economic development officials said today.

UPDATED 3:50 P.M. with comments from Al Nash of Progress Partners North Fulton and Peter Tokar III, Alpharetta Economic Development director. Sandy Springs is factored into Georgia’s ranking as a top 5 place to do business, according to Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.  Alpharetta, which was a major draw for companies 10 years ago, could be too far north for some businesses today. Cummiskey mentioned new owners of a company that bought out an Alpharetta business. “They are also bringing in 200 more jobs. Folks who might not want to go all the way to Alpharetta. North American Properties Adds Tenants for Avalon

The mixed-use development in Alpharetta is scheduled to open in April 2014.

North American Properties today announced new tenants for Avalon, saying more than half of the Phase 1 retail space is committed and another 25 percent is in negotation. The $600 million resort-inspired, mixed-use development in Alpharetta is scheduled to open April 2014.  “Avalon will deliver a purposefully designed experience in the art of living well,” said Mark Toro, managing partner for North American Properties. “Imagine stepping into a retail environment that feels and delivers like a five-star resort. Falcons Exec Replaces Chick-fil-A CEO at Chamber Breakfast

The North Fulton Chamber says a scheduling conflict caused the switch in speakers for its Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast on Aug. 28.

North Fulton Chamber President Brandon Beach had to call an audible when Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy cancelled his speaking engagement at the Aug. 28 Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast. Cathy, who has been in the news quite a bit lately for comments made about marriage, told the chamber he had a scheduling conflict arise that make it impossible for him to be in Alpharetta that morning.
