Every year there is an increased drive to get shoppers into stores. Black Friday now gets an early start on Thanksgiving Thursday, Buy Local campaigns push Small Business Saturday shopping and technology and social media sites encourage Cyber Monday logins. The message is clear - shop early and shop often. So what is your shopping style for the holidays? Will you be shopping off your Thanksgiving meal on Thursday or Friday, supporting the small businesses in your area on Saturday or is the computer your preferred shopping mall on Cyber Monday? Black Friday shopping isn't for the faint of heart. But if you're already ad prioritizing and store strategizing, the fact that several area big-box retailers are gearing up to open their doors even earlier this year - starting Thanksgiving Day - won't surprise you. Last week, Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on that Thursday, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters, while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. But its not alone. Mall and big store coupons are available for Black Friday to use on top of the great sales going on today.
Black Friday is here and the sales are everywhere. Whatever you are looking for, odd are, it is on sale some place today or this weekend. Make the deals even better when you present printable coupons at the register. If you are already out and about when you see the coupon you need, pull it up on your phone. I have yet to be turned down at a retail store when I show them my phone with a coupon on it. They will either scan my phone and the bar code will pull up or they will manually enter a coupon. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the official kick off for the holiday shopping season. Many stores are trying to start the season early with great sales, coupons and bargains for this weekend. Barnes And Noble will give you 20 percent off of one item through Saturday if you pay with your American Express card and present this coupon. Bath And Body Works will give shoppers $10 off of their purchase of $30 or more with this coupon through Sunday. The busiest shopping day of the year brings out shoppers in droves.
North Point Mall will open at midnight on Black Friday after being closed all day Thanksgiving, Nov. 24. What has traditionally been the busiest day in the Christmas shopping season continues to get increased hours from retailers. Macy's will open its doors at midnight, staying open until 10 p.m. Sears and JC Penney each will open extra early at 4 a.m., with JCPenney closing at 11 p.m. and Sears an hour earlier at 10 p.m. Dillard's opens up four hours later at 8 a.m., closing its doors at 9 p.m. The new Von Maur store will be open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Outside of the mall, Kohl's, Best Buy, Toys R Us and Staples are expected to open at midnight on Black Friday.
