Next weekend, Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Roswell will host its third annual “Language of Love” dinner to benefit its missions in Africa, The Philippines and India. The evening, which is free and open to the community, will include food from around the world, multi-cultural entertainment, silent and live auctions. Funds raised by the auctions will be donated to three of the church’s charitable causes, including: The evening will begin with the silent auction, during which refreshments will be served, followed by a welcome message that will include blessings in various languages. Milton resident Beth Ferguson is helping to make North Fulton's Down Home Derby a little more like the Kentucky Derby this year. An Alpharetta-based company, Kids II, will sponsor the Strong Legs Run, one of the oldest and largest fundraisers for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Kids II has been inventing and reinventing infant and toddler toys and gear for more than 40 years. Its executives and workers encourage children and their parents to participate in this opportunity dedicated to touching the lives of children in Atlanta and across the nation. The Strong Legs Run begins in front of Turner Field on Saturday, Nov. 22. Runners are invited to participate in a 10K race at 8 a.m. to kick off the event. A 5K run will begin at 9:15, as well as a Mascot Trot and 2K Family Fun Run at 10 and 10:15 a.m.

Local business, community leaders pay to eat Japanese cuisine to benefit foundation.
Benihana restaurant in Alpharetta was filled with police officers, firefighters and the couples and business owners for the annual Red and Blue Cook For You benefit dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The tables were filled with people who paid for a seat to eat the Japanese cuisine prepared by the firefighters, police officers and support staff for the Public Safety Department–with the help of Benihana cooks. The event included a silent auction of signed sports and music memorabilia, golf outings, spa packages, photo sessions, hotel packages and plenty of artwork that raised more funds used by the Public Safety Foundation to help public safety employees and their families who need financial assistance.

80s-themed fundraiser at Country Club of the South will benefit Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.
Get ready to have a rad time on Saturday when Angels Among Us Pet Rescue hosts its first Big Hair Ball at Country Club of the South. Tickets to the 80s-themed fundraiser are $85 and include a full-course dinner and two drinks and are tax deductible. Tables for 10 are $750.
