The North Fulton city adopted policies and practices that made it one of the latest jurisdictions to get the designations from the Atlanta Regional Commission.
Milton is one of the latest cities to earn Green Communities certification for leadership in implementing policies and practices that contribute to efficient and sustainable use of resources in metro Atlanta. The city has 67 measures dedicated to becoming a Green Commuity. The city is now recognized as a Bronze level Green Community. Community Development Director Kathleen Field convinced the ARC to help her staff prepare the study and master plan at a fraction of the cost consultants might charge.
Milton Community Development Director Kathleen Field has found a way to get professional help in creating a master plan for the Arnold Mill Corridor for approximately $5,000 instead of the $125,000 or so it would cost to hire a consulting company. City Council members were happy to hear of the potential savings and the planning when Field introduced her proposal at Wednesday night's meeting at Milton City Hall. With Veterans Day observed on Monday, city offices were closed, which moved the meeting to Wednesday. According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, between both the North Fulton and Cobb calls Wednesday evening, June 6, nearly 4,500 people took part in the telephone town hall meetings. Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker and Fulton County Chairman John Eaves took questions from local residents on everything from how long the tax will last to specifics about why light rail expansion into North Fulton is cost-effective or even beneficial. Eaves told callers that he believes MARTA needs to expand to become more …

Federal stimulus dollars were funneled through it, in part, and it's the organization through which the state often works with communities. It's the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), and now is one of those times you can tell the planners what you see as the region's future, by taking a survey. The ARC, in collaboration with local economic development agencies, governments and chambers of commerce, wants your help in developing a Regional Economic …
