MARTA to Run Extra Trains for Falcons Game on Sunday

Hop on a MARTA train at North Springs Station by taking a bus or driving your car there. It only costs $2.50 each way.

MARTA hopes local sports fans will take transit downtown this weekend to catch all the great Atlanta Falcons action as they take on the San Francisco 49ers, Sunday, Jan. 20 in their last stop on the way to the Super Bowl.  Direct service to the Georgia Dome is available via MARTA and the local transit system will have extra trains running to get customers quickly to and from the game. Additional staff and police will be on hand to assist customers. In support of the hometown team, MARTA will be running a "Go Falcons" message on its buses and trains.   For $2.50 one-way (plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card), MARTA offers the most affordable and convenient way to travel to the game. Just 2 questions: 1. When is MARTA going to fix the 3-year old pot holes in the North Springs ramp onto GA400? Seriously - 3 years? Not even Atlanta is that bad. 2. The trains are standing-room-only for Falcons and Braves games, and often at daily rush hour. Why not use 8 car trains rather than 6 car trains? The stations are built for 8 car length trains, and the incremental cost is negligible.   more ›

Cambridge Bears Want Help from the Falcons, National Guard

Fans should vote online to make their school the Atlanta Falcons/Army National Guard High School Team of the Week.

  The Cambridge Bears want to bring in some outside help to boost their pep rally this week – the Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Army National Guard. The Cambridge Athletics Association asks fans and friends of the Cambridge Bears to vote for them as the Atlanta Falcons/Army National Guard High School Team of the Week. Visit the Atlanta Falcons Team of the Week page and vote as often as possible through Friday, Sept. 21. Scroll down to "Class 5A" and select Cambridge to cast your vote. Falcons RB Turner Arrested for DUI in Gwinnett - Suwanee Patch Atlanta Falcons starting running back Michael Turner, a Suwanee resident, was arrested early Tuesday (Sept. 18) on charges of DUI and speeding in Gwinnett, records show. According to the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office, Turner, of a Chattooga Terrace address in Suwanee, was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday. Falcons Exec Replaces Chick-fil-A CEO at Chamber Breakfast

The North Fulton Chamber says a scheduling conflict caused the switch in speakers for its Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast on Aug. 28.

North Fulton Chamber President Brandon Beach had to call an audible when Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy cancelled his speaking engagement at the Aug. 28 Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast. Cathy, who has been in the news quite a bit lately for comments made about marriage, told the chamber he had a scheduling conflict arise that make it impossible for him to be in Alpharetta that morning. Beach announced today that Falcons Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President Jim Smith will talk about the upcoming season, the Falcons league-leading marketing program, and the community activities underway. Alpharetta YMCA Helps 'NFL Characters Unite'

TV show connects NFL stars who suffered prejudice and discrimination with teens undergoing similar problems.

Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez uses his experiences overcoming bullying to help a teen deal with a similar situation in a one-hour TV show airing on USA Network Friday at 7 p.m. The Ed Isakson-Alpharetta Family YMCA served as a location for a one-on-one activity between Gonzalez and Jonathan, a teen who has been dealing with his own bullies. The show is part of USA’s public service campaign to combat prejudice and discrimination. In addition to Gonzalez, the film features New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, and NBC’s Football Night in America analyst and Super Bowl-winning Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy. North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club Hosts Dinner

Dinner in Alpharetta recognized high school Players of the Week.

The North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club hosted its Player of the week dinner at the Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta on Monday, Sept. 19. The organization recognizes outstanding individual performances by players from local high schools. Fox Sports' Buck Lanford emceed the "Booster Club President Appreciation Night," which featured Atlanta Falcon and New Orleans Saint football great Michael Haynes as guest speaker.
