The hospital and community leaders launcedh G Red North Fulton!, a campaign modeled after the American Heart Association's campaign. Ten years ago, the American Heart Association began a campaign aimed specifically at women when it was realized that heart disease was their number-one killer. The Go Red movement has become a national touchstone for women’s heart health, but to make the message even more personal, groups like North Fulton Hospital are taking the message directly into their communities. North Fulton Community Charities’ Education Center is hosting a Babysitter Boot Camp on Friday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Facilitated by Christine Neely, American Heart Association Instructor, the class will give guys and gals ages 11-15 the chance to learn skills to be a safe, prepared, and fun babysitter. Alpharetta Elementary is holding its 13th annual Jump Rope for Heart event, with students jumping during their PE classes to raise money to fight against heart disease and stroke. Over the years the students have raised mroe than $100,000. As part of its kickoff event, the school hosted a jump rope demo team from Morris Brandon Elementary School from Atlanta. The team not only showed off great jump rope skills but they also taught the kids about living a heart healthy lifestyle, school officials said. This year the students of AES are hoping to raise $5,000 for the American Heart Association. The event will be continue on March 7.
