Patch Tweaks Our Homepage for Easier Use

Weather, comment stream moved to better locations as we make things look nicer.

No, you're not imagining things. Alpharetta-Milton Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual nip-and-tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple of things around. For those keeping score: While the site might look a little different today, we still offer the same robust coverage of everything happening in your community. That was, is, and will always be our mission. We hope you'll let us know what you think of our tweaks - drop me a line or offer a comment below!

Looking Back to the First Day: Welcome to Alpharetta-Milton Patch

A year ago I welcomed residents and visitors to Alpharetta and Milton here to their very own hyper local news and information site.

A year ago I welcomed you to Alpharetta-Milton Patch, which is a part of your neighborhood, a place to talk about the issues, share ideas, tell your friends what's happening and what your children have accomplished. Today the dedication to making this the best hyperlocal site remains. So post your event, submit your son's or daughter's wedding announcement, comment on an article, tell us what you want us to write about and even find that place to buy a gift for a loved one in the directory. Stories, columns, photos and even videos will help tell the story of your lives in the community.

More than two dozen people helped me build the content on the site, making it very busy in the weeks leading up to Dec. 21, 2010. A little ritual countdown to launch our corner of Patch that day, my boss told me to get some rest. But I had little rest that day as a big story broke that 300 new jobs were coming to the city. Flash forward a year and the site is becoming what was intended from day one, a place for the community to come and share ideas, notices, discussion and opinions. I've added more Local Voices with a group of bloggers, and invite you to join in. In the first days…
