The arrest was based upon the traffic offenses, driving behaviors as well as manifestations of impairment exhibited by the driver. It is the arresting officer's belief based upon his expert training and experience that the accused was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of substance which caused significant impairment. The man is identified as Jack David Kaiser, 52, of Las Vegas, who is accused of committing a string of bank robberies in Michigan before committing suicide in Alpharetta. Alpharetta Police Officer Chris Massey was presented with a $500 check from Alpharetta’s State Bank and Trust Company for being named the PACT Officer of the Year at the annual Alpharetta Public Safety awards event. PACT stands for “Police and Citizens Together." This program assigns a police officer or firefighter to each community within Alpharetta. Alpharetta public safety employees are empowered to help residents with quality of life issues within their assigned community and are asked to hold meetings with the residents designed to foster relationships, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. The Cumming pastor was let go after the mistaken identity was realized.
A Cumming pastor was pulled over at gunpoint by Alpharetta Police after leaving SharpShooters gun range in Roswell when they mistook him for an armed robber on Feb. 16, reports wsbtv.com. God's House of Prayer Pastor Boyd Allen was with two friends on Alpharetta Highway when one of the friends realized they had left a newly purchased gun on top of the car and got out to retrieve it. Seeing the gun on top of the car, a concerned witness called police and that's what caused the confusion, according to the wsbtv.com report. UPDATED 8:44 a.m. with victims' names. Two victims involved in an early morning single-vehicle accident that closed Webb Bridge Road at Big Creek near North Point Parkway have been identified. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Akshay Panducherry, age 18, of Alpharetta. The passenger was identified as Harshavardhan Patlolla, age 21, also of Alpharetta. A red Ferrari was traveling eastbound on Webb Bridge Road at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, narrowly missing the bridge at Big Creek, said Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon. The Roswell Police Department helped arrest a couple last weekend for drug trafficking hundreds of pounds of methamphetamines. According to a press release from the department, Roswell and Alpharetta officers assisted Drug Enforcement Administration agents in arresting Jose Carbajal-Pineda and Ana Consuelo Flores, Saturday, Aug. 4, at a home on Rappahannock Drive in Alpharetta, on the Roswell border off Mansell Road. Law enforcement found with 220 pounds of crystal methamphetamines with a street value of more than $5.5 million in the home. Carbajal-Pineda and Flores have been charged with trafficking meth.

Police arrest a man after pursuing him on Old Milton Parkway. He is charged with several crimes, including attempting to elude police, expired license, expired license plate and reckless driving.
A Johns Creek man was charged with several crimes after police pursued him on Old Milton Parkway on June 13. Around 9 p.m., an Alpharetta Police officer heard there was a look-out for a black sedan on Old Milton Parkway, traveling east. A caller was following the suspected impaired driver, and police asked the caller to turn on their emergency flashers so police could locate him. As the officer came off Morris Road to Old Milton Parkway, he saw a truck ahead with its emergency flashers on. He lost sight of the truck but saw a black sedan that was weaving in and out of its lane. A man from Lexington, S.C. is accused of stealing power tool batteries from Lowe’s on June 11. A loss prevention employee at Lowe’s told police that store security cameras showed the man cutting open plastic packages that contained the batteries. He then put them in his pockets and left the store. The store employee confronted the man and walked him back to the training room to wait for police. The batteries, totaling about $379, were recovered, and the man was charged with shoplifting over $300. A Stone Mountain man tried to cash a $22,000 check at a local bank branch, but the teller operations manager thought something was fishy and got the police involved. The Bank of America branch on North Point Parkway called to verify the check, which is standard practice for such a large amount. The first call reported back that the check was valid, but she was concerned that the verification number had been changed just a day earlier. So after she called the bank relations manager, the Douglasville company that supposedly wrote the check was called and confirmed the check was fraudulent. Kobbie D. Traffic backup
Alpharetta police are on the scene investigating a crash that involved an overturned vehicle at GA 400 on the bridge over Windward Parkway. Traffic, which normally is crawling at this time of day, was all but at a standstill. George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, was on scene with investigators just after 5 p.m. today. Injuries were not confirmed immediately. GDOT's Navigator system reports the incident happened at 4:39 p.m., and blocked two lanes of traffic.
