Alpharetta Raiders Beat Centennial Knights, 41-23

The Alpharetta Raiders earned their fifth straight win against the Centennial Knights on Friday night, outscoring the visitors 41-23. Alpharetta is 6-3 overall, and 5-1 in league play. The Raiders close out their regular season on Nov. 9 at Johns Creek, which comes off a 34-7 victory over West Forsyth. Johns Creek is 8-1 on the season, but shares the league lead with Alpharetta and West Forsyth with a 5-1 league record. West Forsyth plays Lambert, which is 5-4 and only 2-4 in league play. West Forsyth beat both Alpharetta and Johns Creek earlier this season, which will figure in playoff matchups. Centennial plays Chattahoochee on Thursday, Nov. 8 in a game televised by WSB-TV. The Knights are looking for their fourth win, and are 3-6 …

Alpharetta Raiders, Chattahoochee Cougars Battle on the Gridiron

While the teams will fight for victory, both squads, their coaches and fans will unite for a Pink Out in the fight against breast cancer.

Alpharetta High School and Chattahoochee High School join together with Northside Hospital for a PINK OUT in the fight against breast cancer today, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. Alpharetta High School hosts the Second Annual Pink Out Football game benefitting Susan G. Komen and Northside Breast Care Center  This year's event will  highlight “Two Teams, One Cause” as the Raiders and the Cougars join together to raise funds for a cure. Check out Nick May's video, "Here, Kitty Kitty," a riff on the rivalry between the two teams that enlists a score of his friends, posted on YouTube, and learn about this budding videographer. Milton, Alpharetta High Schools in Top 10 for SAT Scores in Georgia

All three high schools in top 10 highest scoring in state.

The College Board this week released results that show the Fulton County School System has more schools with high SAT performance than any other district in Georgia.  Two of the high schools in Alpharetta and Milton ranked in the top 10, with Milton High at No. 7 and Alpharetta High at No. 10. Seven Fulton schools are among the top 20 highest scoring schools in the state: While Northview technically ranks second in the state, the higher-scoring school had only 103 students taking the test. By comparison, 507 Alpharetta students and 579 Milton students took the SAT in 2012. Cambridge High wasn't open when the test was offered. Milton, Alpharetta Mayors Issue Football Challenge

The losing mayor will be serving on the lunch line of the winning high school.

Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle and Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood have put bragging rights for their cities on the line with a bet over the Alpharetta Raiders vs. Milton Eagles high school football game on Aug. 31. Belle Isle called the Mayor's Challenge "most aptly named" and taken on at Alpharetta High's urging. "There is a bet, I talked to Joe Lockwood about this," Alpharetta's Mayor said at the Aug. 13 City Council meeting. "The loser gets to serve lunch for the other school." "I will be happy to serve," Belle Isle said. "It's not going to happen, anyway. Alpharetta High School is going to win easily." Lady Raider Lacrosse Team Makes Playoffs

The Alpharetta High School team plays Roswell on Wednesday.

The Alpharetta High School Lady Raider Lacrosse team continues to have success in the AAAAA State Playoffs has made it to the semifinals for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, their cross-Patch rival, the Milton High School Lady Eagles, will visit Walton in the other semifinal game. The men's team also made it to the playoffs, visiting Lassiter today at 7 p.m. The Milton men's team will visit Etowah in the other Final Four game, also at 7 p.m. After wins over Kennesaw Mountain and Peachtree Ridge, the Lady Raiders are now in the Final Four for the second year in a row. Alpharetta, Milton High Schools Don't Even Rank

U.S. News and World Reports looks at state test results, AP class success and other factors in ranking the best high schools in Georgia, the nation.

Alpharetta and Milton high schools didn't even rank in Georgia on the _U.S. News and World Reports Best High Schools in 2012 report. This can be attributed to two factors: lower Advanced Placement (AP) class participation and success than ranked schools, and lower overall student performance on state exams. The calculations for overall performance by U.S. News were the first step in determining which schools qualified to receive medals. The only high schools in North Fulton that even ranked in the state were Northview, which was fourth in the state and 219th nationally, and Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs (#5 in Georgia, #291 in U.S.). Alpharetta Girls, Boys Lacrosse Teams in Playoffs

The Raider teams play a rare playoff doubleheader tonight at the school.

For the first time in school history, Alpharetta High School will host a lacrosse playoff doubleheader today, May 8.  At 6 p.m., the Lady Raider lacrosse team, led by senior captains Erica Coppage, Abby DiVagno, Kigin Hill, & Taylor Underwood, will face off against Kennesaw Mountain. Following at 8 p.m., the Region Champion Raider men will battle Woodstock. The Raider men are led by senior captain midfielder, Kyle Reed, with a team-leading 32 goals, as well as the other two senior captains, midfielder and face-off specialist Patrick Baldwin with a 76 percent face-off win percentage and goalie Kyle Seebohm, with 123 goalie saves. Volunteers Cheer For Alpharetta High Garden Work

The group of students and other volunteers were part of Comcast Cares Day on April 21.

Comcast Cares Day volunteers and area students gathered together after spending the day on maintenance projects for the Alpharetta High School community garden. Projects included expanding, cleaning and beautifying about 2,000 square feet of land, as well as planting apple, pear and peach trees and a variety of fruit bushes. More than 3,000 Comcast employees, family and friends volunteered across metro Atlanta on Saturday, April 21 for the 11th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Top Students Join Superintendent of Schools at E&E

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce invited Dr. Robert D'Avossa and valedictorians from local high schools to the business breakfast.

The latest Eggs & Enterprises Breakfast by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce was all about education, with the Fulton County Superintendent of Schools and top students from North Fulton schools attending on April 24. Dr. Robert D'Avossa spoke to the chamber members about the importance of education at the breakfast meeting at Country Club of the South.  He was joined at the meeting by high school valedictorians, including Milton High's Vaughan Nicherson and Alpharetta High's Ananth Punyala.

Raiders Baseball Will Take Their Game to Turner Field

Alpharetta High's varsity team will play North Forsyth in a Region 6-AAAAA game on April 20.

Players on the the Alpharetta High Raiders varsity baseball team will get to play ball at Turner Field this season. No, the Braves haven't called them up, but they are letting the team play a home game against North Forsyth on April 20. The two high school teams will be treated like they've been called up to the big leagues, playing in a major league stadium with major league facilities and major league grounds crew. The Region 6-AAAAA game will be played only a week after the Braves home opener. The Braves will be in Arizona playing the Diamondbacks later that night.
