This allowed the Welcome Center to join its parent organization in one location, providing the ACVB with volunteers able to help visitors. Staff will help residents and visitors find accommodations for relatives and friends visiting for weddings and reunions, as well as with options in planning those events. Other staff travel to trade shows, conferences and associations, and make sales calls to increase the number of group room nights. All the activities are supported by a six percent hotel tax charged on every hotel lodger, with 57.6 percent of that going straight to the city and the remainder to the ACVB. The ACVB also helps sponsor bridal shows and sporting events to draw more visitors to the city and its hotels.
