Services were held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church this morning, Tuesday, July 19.
Hundreds turned out for the funeral services held Tuesday morning at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for Brittney Watts, the 26-year-old woman fatally shot in Midtown Atlanta on Friday. From the somber atmosphere, it was apparent that the loss of Watts–a native of Roswell and graduate of both Roswell High School and the University of Georgia–had a significant impact on her hometown of Roswell. The woman friends say was always so positive and upbeat had only recently returned to the Atlanta area, moving into a Decatur neighborhood with her husband. Watts was laid to rest in Green Lawn Cemetery off Alpharetta Highway immediately following the service.

Hundreds of people flocked to funeral mass of Shannon Lawrence at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock earlier today. The vestibule was filled with poster-size photos of Lawrence and numerous floral arrangements. As the service began, it also held friends who could no longer find a seat in the 700-seat church. People arrived an hour early while church staff and volunteers quickly prepared for the mass by vacuuming up remnants of today’s Vacation Bible School and dispensing boxes of tissues. Mourners greeted one another with hugs and tears and shared stories about Shannon. Many arrived long after the ceremony began. Among those in attendance were Marine Corps League (MCL) members, there to support Karen Lawrence, …

Dr. Denmark will forever be in our hearts...her wisdom came directly from the heavens. After each visit with my children, I felt like I had been visiting family. She would open the door into the small waiting area where many families were waiting and always say, "who's my next angel". We all loved her and we loved visiting with the other families waiting to see her and hearing all their stories …   more ›
