The high school's boys lacrosse team, fresh from winning their own state title, came straight to Milton Stadium.
What do you do when you've won the state title as AAAAA boys lacrosse champions? That was easy for the Milton Eagles. They came home from defeating Lassiter in overtime to cheer the Lady Eagles on to victory in their state title soccer match. The freshly crowned boys lacrosse team arrived at Milton High School's stadium at halftime in the girls soccer match against Northview. Victory was far from certain at that point. After being cheered on by Milton fans celebrating their win over Lassiter, the boys began to chant and cheer for the Lady Eagles, who seemed happy to see Milton's second state champs of the day on hand. The Lady Eagles took charge in the final 40 minutes, keeping on the attack and using strong defense to keep the Northview …

The agency's Connect400 team looks for transit alternatives to handle transportation needs along the highway's corridor which figure in the use of MARTA's north line.
MARTA and its Connect400 team will look for public comments Tuesday night on extending the north line from North Springs Station as it proposes developing transit connection options between the I-285/GA 400 interchange and McGinnis Ferry Road. A public meeting will be held at Mimosa Elementary School in Roswell from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on May 22 to reintroduce the project and schedule to the community, and work with local residents to develop potential transit connection options. This is part of MARTA's GA 400 Corridor Transit Initiative: Alternatives Analysis. On its website, MARTA states this "involves investigating the need for high-capacity transit connections between the Perimeter Center area near the interchange of I-285 and GA 400 in the…

Funnyman Sasha Baron Cohen is at it again, this time as a flashy, offensive Middle Eastern dictator who comes to the U.S.
From the guy who brought us Ali G and Borat comes a new character named General Aladeen – a ruthless dictator from a fictional country in North Africa who is part buffoon, horn dog and ruthless bloodthirsty ruler in "The Dictator." Through a ridiculous set of circumstances, that I will spare you the details because they are so contrived, Aladeen ends up in New York while his even sillier double is in charge of his country. There are plenty of cameo appearances from big stars to keep things interesting. As for the element of political satire we get a pretty heavy-handed lecture that borders on being a bit corny. The Dictator, like so many other characters by Cohen, is offensive but somehow there is a certain likeability to him. "The …

Six-month-old Archie has been at the Atlanta Humane Society since he was a small puppy. He originally came to our shelter in March and was a transfer from a shelter in Alabama. This black Labrador retriever mix has been patiently waiting for his chance to upgrade from shelter living to a real home with a family who loves him. He is currently 32 pounds with some growing to do and will probably only be about 0 pounds full grown. Archie is sweet, social and always eager to please, but he would also benefit from structure and obedience training classes. He has begun learning commands and had recently mastered sit, stay and lay down. Archie is a smart boy with a strong desire to learn. Throughout his time here, Archie has learned polite leash …

Contractors will need almost three months to replace it with an arch culvert, so you'll be making detours if you normally use this road.
Cogburn Road is now closed for three months to through traffic so Milton can replace a deteriorating, narrow bridge just down the hill from the entrance to St. Francis High. Motorists will have to take detours as contractors tear out the old bridge over Cooper Sandy Creek to replace it with a culvert with two, eleven-foot travel lanes with two-foot paved shoulders, curb and gutter with a trail on the west side in conformance with the trail master plan and a rural grassed shoulder on the east side. So if you are driving up Cogburn Road from Windward Parkway to Alpharetta's North Park, if you forget the road closure you'll need to make a right turn at Webb Road and take it to Hwy. 9, turning left to continue north. With few connecting roads…

Producers of the hit show will be in the Atlanta area to cast for the next season, and local families can ask for her help.
America's Supernanny is casting families for the next season of the show, and is sending producers to the Alpharetta area to find them. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) reports that the hit parenting series contacted them looking to cast families. The ACVB heads local efforts to bring film productions into Alpharetta and regularly receives inquiries from various entertainment companies considering the area for projects. This upcoming season’s producers are searching for families with unique circumstances and challenges to cast on America's Supernanny. The challenges parents may be struggling with could include disrespectful behavior; “tween” and teen issues; mean girls or bullying boys; and blended families where both …
