St. James United Methodist Churchwas established in 1867 as the Alpharetta Colored Methodist Church. The Church was renamed in 1967. It still has a primarily black congregation. The congregation is active in community service, foreign missions and other ministries. Graduating high school seniors who are members of St. James UMC may apply for its college scholarships.
