My son is in the eight grade at Mill Springs. This is his second year there. It has been a godsend. He attended a blue ribbon elementary school but with ADHD we knew he was not going to survive in a public middle school. Mill Springs was suggested to us by an educatioinal consultant. At the time, we had never even heard of it. IThe school has exceeded all of our expectations. Our son has regained his self-confidence. This is a caring community where the principall (she is awesome) knows every student by name. The staff is very caring and they are in constant communication with the parents. I tell everyone who might have a child with a learning disabilty who is struggling in their current school to check out Mill Springs. My only regret is the I did not know about the school earllier. The sport program is great. They have buses so bringing him back and forth is not even an issue. I highly recommend this school for children with learning disabilities. 5/5 stars.

Inspite of the Public Middle School teachers (including the highly regarded TAG Lit specialist) having IEP history and psych reports on our son saying he was ADHD and hyper-vigilant, with a history of problems when put in uncomfortable situations, they proceed to put him in just those situations. Makes you wonder if those teachers can learn, or if they are just trying to move students through rather than educate. Not Mill Springs! By the time several of the other commenters started considering MSA, my son, who used to become a statue when called on to present in class, was telling the parents what a difference it had made for him with confidence, humor, a sense of accomplishment and that the teachers would make sure he was able to learn the things he needed to, in the way he was comfortable learning. Conclusion, he was Valedictorian, choose which college he thought fit him best out of many choices that wanted him, was accepted into the College honors program and made Dean's List (3.5 or better) his 1st semester freshman year including an A in Honors Lit.and is very active on campus, too. Without Mill Springs, it would never have happened. The prior comments reflect reality and the complments to the school and staff are more than justified.
Mill Springs Academy has changed our entire family dynamic. Our son was having a very hard time in a traditional school setting. He say that he was stupid, that he hated himself, that he hated school. By God's grace his counselor gave us information about MSA. We attended the open house and felt the love and care that these administrators and teachers had for the students. We moved him right away. That was four years ago. Today our son is at the top of his class. He love himself and is very proud of every accomplishment. He says that everyone is different and MSA celebrates everyone. I have found that to be true. We cannot thank the staff and the found enough for this amazing school. It changed our son's life. I know that he will grow into an amazing young man productive in society, and proud to be who he is. We celebrate him and we celebrate MSA. It is worth your investment to give your child hope.
Mill Springs Academy has been a huge blessing for our daughter. She began the Lower School program in 3rd grade. Her diagnosis is ADHD, with mild anxiety. At her previous school she had been bullied and was so anxious we could not get her to gain weight. She was so upset, she wouldn't eat. Within her first two months at MSA-she had gained 8 pounds! She is now a happy 7th grader. Her academics and extracurricular are great. She loves participating in Cheer, Drama and school trips. In the beginning she did struggle with social skills, self control and impulsivity-but through the levels system-she was able to excel. Last year she won the Citizenship award for her Middle School and then the Citizenship for the entire school. We are so thankful by her progress and the confidence she has gained from attending MSA. Our family is no longer worried about her future-but excited. The staff is hardworking, caring and supportive. They have inspired her to want a career as a drama teacher that works with students like her.
Our son was struggling in a public high school and was spiraling downward despite our best efforts. Since transferring to Mill Springs, he has found success in every area. He is a senior with straigh A's, holds a leadership positon, participates in many sports and has been accepted to his first choice college where he has received a merit scholarship and will compete next year as a college athelete. We cannot recommend Mill Springs highly enough. The school provides a quality education with committed, supportive teachers and staff. It"s community structure promotes responsibility and leadership which you see in the inclusive nature of the students. Every student has the opportunity to participate in activites such as sports and the arts. If you have a child struggling in a traditional high school, as a parent I urge you to consider Mill Springs. This school has made all the difference for our son and our family.
Attending Mill Springs Academy is the best decision we ever made to help our child with learning challenges. The administration and staff is compassionate, skilled and understanding that his abilities far outweigh his disabilities. I'm so proud to be a part of this community and would highly recommend this school to anyone who is facing similar educational choices.
This is our first year with Mill Springs and we couldn't be more pleased. Our son has mild asperger's which the public school was reluctant to accommodate despite multiple medical recommendations. He began to hate school and anything associated with it. This year has been a complete turn around. He is back to excelling academically and has made many friends. The school has been an answer to our prayers.
My son has been in several schools around the US all his life and each school was not a great experience. Since finding Mill Springs, I have to say that it is by far the best school my son has ever attended. I just wish we would have found it sooner. My son has come out of his shell, loves going to school now, made great friends, and best of all....the classes are taught in a way that he can comprehend and he's not getting lost in the shuffle of a big school. I give this school and its staff a bit A+ !!!
My son and daughter both attend Mill Springs. This school saved our family! Our son has been a student since eigth grade and is a senior. He has been accepted into his first choice college with a merit scholarship! It is amazing the amount of support and advice that is made available to rising junior and senior students and parents. The college counselors know the kids and the colleges that would be the best fit for them. They also teach the student how to best explain his or her strengths and weaknesses AND how certain types of modifications will allow them to succeed.
During an open house, I knew that Mill Springs was the right school for our third grade son with aspergers. A year later, every expectation has been met. The change from public school to MSA has been profound. Our lives were out of control trying to work with the public system. Of course, there are bumps in the road. MSA has a viable and somewhat unique system to address classroom situations. Beyond academics, we are especially impressed with how well rounded MSA is with sports, music, drama and art. And, in case you are wondering, this is NOT a paid announcement.
Our daughter started attending in August (7th grade). She has gone from an uptight anxious child to a child who can't get me out the door fast enough in the mornings. Her teachers know when she is having difficulties and she doesn't even have to ask for help they offer it up. She has become involved in several of the after school programs and is learning how to make friends. She excels academically and socially. She is not picked on and feels safe at school.
We now have the opportunity to have a real family life at home that doesn't revolve around school.
We can not say enough nice things about the environment and professionalism at the Mill Springs.
Mill Springs has changed my son's life. He went from a challeged child to a confident one. The support the teachers and staff provide our children is above and beyond. The teachers stay willingly after school to assist students that need extra help. The students are held accountable for their progress and behavior. They run their parent/student/teacher evaluation meetings. The school inspires them and shows them that "You can do it, if you put your mind to it!"
I have two children at Mill Springs Academy. I don't know what we would do without the school. The teachers and staff are committed to their success, not only in academic areas but their social, athletic and creative successes as well. Prior to attending Mill Springs school was a struggle. It was an uphill hike to which there was no end. My boys love school, love their teachers and have a large group of friends. My older son has dyslexia and before MSA would boldly state that he would NEVER go to college. Things have changed, just last week he was giving me a list of colleges he wants to visit. MSA has made an incredible difference in our lives.
This school has made a tremendous difference in our lives! Our son has attended for 8 years and we could not be more pleased at the academic progress, individual attention and overall environment. He plays three sports which he probbly would not be able to if he attended a public school. He is Dsylexic and MSA has taught him how to study and work with his disability. He was accepted to every college he applied for and has received a scholarship. None of that would have happened if we had kept him in public school.

My family moved here from a different state and having a child with learning disibliities is a challenge but looking for a school that fits our sons needs was a task I was not looking forward to. We found a gem in Mill Springs, our son loves school he feels completely accepted by his peers. His support system has grown beyond just his family, he is comfortable with his teachers and advisiors and trusts them. My son is finally confident in his studies and when he has questions and needs help his teachers are always available to assist him and give him extra help in understanding an assignment. As a parent it is very comforting to know that the professionals teaching your children truly love what they do and that they really do care about your children. In such a short time Mill Springs has truly become a big part of our family.
