Young Kids Can Improve Reading Skills with Help from a Dog

Story time, a newcomer's club and more events are ahead this week in Alpharetta and Milton.

Family Storytime, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m. Alpharetta Library, 238 Canton.Every Tuesday. Stories, songs, movement and occasional crafts. Ages 0-5

Happy Trails/READing Paws. Thursday, Jan. 16, 4:30 p.m. Alpharetta Library, 238 Canton St. Children can sign up to read to Echo, a trained and registered therapy dog. Cat Adoptions at PetSmart Northpoint/Alpharetta. Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m. 6370 North Point Pkwy., Alpharetta. Come visit the Furkids cats. Cats stay overnight and are rotated in/out of the store on a schedule.  Stop by and visit with them or view all available cats (and dogs).
