First Day of School in Fulton; Runners to Fill Downtown Alpharetta Streets This Week

Three Concerts at the amphitheater and a Taekwondo tournament to help develop future Olympians also are coming this week.

Classes begin today for students in the Fulton County Schools system, so look out for school children. Traffic is bound to be a bit different with all of the school buses and cars headed to local schools.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre will play host to three concerts this week. Peter Frampton's Guitar Circus takes to the stage on Tuesday night. The Killers perform on Thursday, and Chicago returns to Alpharetta on Saturday.

Taekwondo Tournament Helps Develop Future Olympians

The 2013 Atlanta Open Taekwondo International Championships is in Alpharetta for its fourth year. This tournament, being held at Alpharetta High School from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, is part of a grassroots program to develop future Olympians for the sport of Taekwondo.

The Mayor's Challenge Fills Downtown with Hundreds of Runners

This is the 17th year that the Rotary Club of Alpharetta has produced The Mayor’s Challenge, which includes a Fun Run and a 5K. A special Food Truck Alley and a live concert will be part of the event, presented by Lexis-Nexis, on Saturday from 6-10 p.m.
