Alpharetta Staff Wants Special Events Application Moratorium

Without a breather from processing applications, staff won't be able to consider new rules and requirements.

Alpharetta City Council will consider putting a moratorium on special events applications in the city to give staff the time to consider how to control the rising number of events.
City sponsored special events rose from 14 in 2012 to 51 in 2013 as the Special Events Division budget rose to $418,818 from $248,217 Outside organizations and agencies held another 70 events that required city services.
Other cities, including most recently Roswell, are charging organizations for the costs to the city to hold an event. And Roswell now limits the number of events that can be held on certain roads or routes.
