Local companies, organizations raise funds for American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life Alpharetta has raised more than $106,000 for the American Cancer Society so far, with the help of 680 particpants.

The volunteers filled the football field at Milton Center–the old Milton High Eagles stadium–with tents manned by the different teams. Most had additional ways to raise funds, such as raffles, a dunking booth and food.

The event began at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20, and continued until 6 a.m. Saturday, April 21. Participants spent time walking around the trackin the fundraiser. Once it got dark, it was time for the luminaries. The white paper bags were personalized with the names of those who have suffered from cancer. They ringed the track, and spelled out "Hope" in the stands of the stadium.
