Poor Joey Got Too Big

Exuberant young dog is very friendly.

The Atlanta Humane Society staff was very sad when a very gregarious young dog named Joey was returned by his owners. Joey was adopted out when he was a cute little puppy, but then was returned six months later because his owners decided he was growing into a larger dog than they had wanted.

So poor Joey once again finds himself in the shelter. He is overjoyed whenever visitors come looking for a new dog, but is visibly crestfallen when he is continuously overlooked in favor of the younger puppies. Joey is a brown and white hound mix, and is now about 9 months old.

He is extremely gregarious, and absolutely craves love and attention. He is very exuberant and needs an owner who will teach him basic manners. (Sorry, Joey, we know you want to jump up on everyone who pays attention to you and kiss their faces, but it really isn't allowed!)

He needs a consistent exercise plan and would benefit from a fenced-in yard as well as regular walks. He would be terrific as a walking or running buddy!

Everyone loves this sweet doggie so much that he was just named the AHS "Staff Pet of the Week."

Of course, Joey has received all his basic vet care including vaccinations, testing for heart worm disease, neutering, and microchipping. Is there someone out there who will give this sweet and friendly young guy a second chance at a forever home?

To meet Joey, please visit the Atlanta Humane Society located at 981 Howell Mill Road in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Humane Society will soon be opening a second adoption center, called the "AHS Mansell Campus," located at 1565 Mansell Road, Alpharetta. The grand opening for this center is scheduled for Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
