Community Needs You to Have a Heart

North Fulton Community Charities wants to raise more than $200,000 this month to continue its programs to build self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness and hunger.

North Fulton Community Charities is in the second week of its "Have a Heart for NFCC" month, during which it has a goal to raise more than $200,000 to help families in the community.

Events coming up include a Couponing Expo and a local band Rocking Out for a Good Cause.

NFCC’s mission is to build self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness and hunger in the community by providing emergency assistance and enrichment programs.

A tax receipt can be provided.

While there you can also arranged to donate time, "stuff" for the thrift store and food for the food pantry.

According to NFCC, unless otherwise designated, all monetary contributions are used to assist families with rent, utilities, medical and transportation needs on an emergency basis. Donations will prevent an eviction, repair a car or buy MARTA tokens, purchase prescription medicine, keep the utilities from being turned off or meet other basic needs. For example:

  • $20 buys gas for a man looking for work..
  • $25 will pay for medicine for a senior or child.
  • $50-$100 will pay a utility bill and keep the water, gas or electricity on one more month.
  • $250 will pay the balance of rent due and stop an eviction.
  • $500 or more will provide the means to address the emergency needs of several families.

Feb. 20th- Slopes BBQ Roswell             Lunch and dinner         (must mention NFCC)

Feb. 21st- Altobelli's Alpharetta            Lunch and dinner

Feb. 22nd-        Lunch and Dinner

Feb. 25th-  8 am-noon    -Lions Club Pancake Breakfast ()

Couponing Expo: On Saturday, Feb. 25, at Roswell Presbyterian Church Stephanie Nelson from The Coupon Mom will provide money saving tips about couponing. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-noon and the admission fee is $10.00 per person with all proceeds directly supporting NFCC. Registration for this event can be done online.

Pre-registration online is encouraged, since a sold out crowd is expected.

Rocking Out For a Good Cause: For the younger generation, on Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., a local band will have a jam session at Land of Thousand Hills Coffee in Cumming. This will be an opportunity to involve youth in the needs of their community and a $5 donation is encouraged.
