Comcast Asks Community to Volunteer in North Fulton

Comcast Cares Day on Saturday visits Alpharetta High to work on the community garden.

Comcast employees and other volunteers are inviting North Fulton residents to join in the 11th annual Comcast Cares Day by signing up online to help local schools, parks and non-profit organizations.

Alpharetta High Community Garden

In Alpharetta, a community garden will be cultivated at from 8 a.m-noon. The project site says Alpharetta’s Community Garden volunteer programs are proven models to effect changes in students dietary behaviors related to fruit and vegetable consumption. "It is our intent to help the community be active through service, get fit through gardening and yardwork, and get inspired to make healthier choices for a lifetime," the site says.

The project will include expanding, cleaning and beautifying about 2,000 square feet of land, as well as planting apple, pear and peach trees and a variety of fruit bushes.

Women Are Dreamers Too

In Milton, volunteers will be at Women Are Dreamers Too from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Organizers say "Volunteers will assist with the preservation of the facility to help maintain the inspiring and welcoming environment suited for individual growth and learning." To do that, projects will include tasks such as painting, hanging pictures, cleaning and other general clean up tasks.

EnAble of Georgia's East Hembree Facility

Volunteers in Roswell will be at EnAble of Georgia's East Hembree facility from 8 a.m.-noon.

They will assist with the general upkeep of the EnAble East Hembree facility to provide a welcoming and nurturing environment for visitors and residents.

Projects will include helping with landscaping, such as picking up dead limbs, trimming shrubbery, putting out new pine straw and planting flowers, as well as pressure washing all sidewalks, driveways and patio furniture.

Comcast invites Atlanta to make a difference in our community by volunteering at the 11th annual Comcast Cares Day 2012. Thirty-two different community projects will be held this Saturday, April 21, across metro Atlanta. More than 3,000 area Comcast employees and volunteers are expected to commit their morning to helping local schools, parks and non-profit organizations.
