Alpharetta VFW Names Teacher Of The Year From South Forsyth

Ninth grade teacher from South Forsyth High School is honored to be recipient of award.

The VFW Post 12002 in Alpharetta awarded Lee Mitchell of South Forsyth High School its Teacher of the Year.

“I am extremely honored that the VFW has chosen me as Teacher of the Year, I cannot believe it,” said Mitchell, a ninth grade teacher at South Forsyth High School. “I’ve always had a high regard and respect for veterans. As Americans we should all be grateful to veterans for their service and their sacrifice to the United States and to the world.”

Mitchell, the mom of a 24-year-old son, has been teaching middle and high school students for 24 years, the last six years at South Forsyth High. During that time she’s taught several students who were in the ROTC and eventually went on to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.
