'The Princess Bride' Showing for Free in Downtown Alpharetta

Alpharetta's Movies on Milton series presents the movie outdoors on a large inflatable screen.

A classic movie will be featured on Friday night in downtown Alpharetta as "The Princess Bride" is shown in the Movies on Milton series.

City organizers say after a busy week of back to school activities, take a break and enjoy a free PG-13 movie on Milton Avenue, across from Alpharetta City Hall.

It's the 20th anniversary of "The Princess Bride," starring Cary Elwes and Robin Wright in a film about a young farmhand on a quest to be reunited with his one true love.

The movie will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.) on a big inflatable screen

Pre-show festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. with music, inflatables, BBQ, popcorn, sweets and beverages.

Free parking is available at Alpharetta City Hall or Milton Center.

But the pavement and concrete can be pretty tough on your backside, so bring your own blankets, chairs or other creature comforts to view the movie on a large screen.

That calendar item says Friday, Aug. 17, however. And Friday is the 17th.
