Rain Strikes Downtown Alpharetta Party

UPDATE July 21, 5:30 a.m.: While your Patch editor was sitting under a roof at the amphitheater mostly staying dry, downtown Alpharetta Milton Avenue in Downtown Alpharetta wasn't under a roof during A Midsummer Night's Mayor's Run and Fun. Downtown Alpharetta was  the place to be on Friday night, July 20, as A Midsummer Night's Mayor's Run and Fun presents a 5K race, a fun run, block party and a movie.

The Rotary Club of Alpharetta and the city are partnering on the event.

Runners can register online or in person at Big Peach Running Co., or before the race on Friday. All runners will receive a technical T-shirt. Awards will be given to male and female winners in 10-year age brackets, with the overall male and female winners getting special awards.

Race check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. on Milton Avenue. The fun run starts at 7 p.m., with the 5K following at 7:45 p.m. Winners will be announced shortly after the race. The 5K is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.

Then it's time for an outdoor movie – "Mirror, Mirror" – on the large inflatable movie screen at 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs to be comfortable.
