Breeze, Light Rain Cool Off Mayor's Run and Fun

A Midsummer Night's Mayor's Run and Fun appears to have been a success Friday night in downtown Alpharetta, even if late thunderstorms ruined the outdoor movie.

UPDATED July 22

The mild sprinkles and breeze just made it more pleasant for runners and other visitors to A Midsummer Night's Mayor's Run and Fun, according to one attendee.

"It rained before the race for few minutes but it didn't stop the night's activities. Β The rain cooled the night for the runners and it turned out to be a great race," said Janet Rogers, president of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. Β We are already looking forward to next year's event.

A fun run kicked things off, with the 5K following, winding its way through downtown, down past Wills Park and American Legion Post 201 before making its way back to downtown. Refreshments were served, the Alpharetta Rotary Club worked on its raffle of two iPads and a movie was shown on a very large portable screen.
