Alpharetta Resident to Enter 'Plane' in Soapbox Race

Skydive Atlanta's team will race down Midtown Atlanta's Piedmont Park on Saturday in the Red Bull Soapbox Race.

Skydive Atlanta owner Trey Holladay has his teami ready to compete Saturday, June 9, at in the Red Bull Soapbox Atlanta race.

The Alpharetta resident said he is in the business of high adrenaline and he saw a perfect fit to show off his fearless love of fun.

Modeled after the Super King Air, the airplane used to take anxious skydivers to 14,000 feet altitude, the racer is built by Ride on Bikes, a business in Columbus.

The racing team is made up of pilots and skydivers. No one is afraid of speed and speed is what the team will get when they are going downhill on 10th Street this Saturday. They promise an entertaining show.

““It’s just a great opportunity to have some good old fashion fun,” says owner, Trey Holladay.

Chosen out of thousands of entries, this is the first time they are participating in a soapbox derby, but they are confident about the outcome. Skydive Atlanta will one of the 40 teams from Georgia, Alabama, California, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The first race of the 13th Red Bull Soapbox Race will start at noon.

Skydive Atlanta has been in business for over 27 years. Started in Ellijay, Georgia in 1985, the facility moved to Thomaston in 1998. Skydive Atlanta is the only facility in Georgia certified by the United States Department of Defense to carry military paratroopers and is a member of the United States Parachute Association.
