Alpharetta, Milton Offer Day Camps for Children with Mild Disabilities

Campy Happy Hearts and Camp Joyful Soles serve children ages 6-18.

Alpharetta and Milton once again will team up to provide summer day camps for children ages 6-18, with fees costing the same for residents from either city.

Camp Happy Hearts – Age 6-12

Camp Happy Hearts, a summer day camp for children ages 6 – 12 with mild disabilities, begins its 15th season on June 3 in Alpharetta.  The City of

Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department is taking registration for returning campers.  Those interested in participating for the first time should call 678-297-6154 or email cyoung@alpharetta.ga.us to schedule an interview or for information.

Camp Happy Hearts participants enjoy swimming, field trips, guest entertainers, arts and crafts, sports, and games in a fun and nurturing environment.

  • The Lionheart School (adjacent to the Alpharetta Community Center)
  • 8 one-week sessions from June 3 through Aug. 2nd (excluding the week of July 4th).
  • Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Structured activities 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (pre-camp 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m. and post-camp 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.).

Camp Joyful Soles – Ages 13-18

The City of Milton’s Recreation and Parks Department offers a similar program, Camp Joyful Soles, for children ages 13 – 18.  Also created for children with mild disabilities, the camp is a companion to Camp Happy Hearts.

  • 7 one-week sessions from June 3 to July 26 (except the week of July 4th).
  • 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Cost for participation in Camp Happy Hearts or Camp Joyful Soles is $125 weekly per participant for residents of the City of Alpharetta and the City of Milton.  Residents of other communities pay a weekly cost of $187.50 per participant.

Funding for Camp Happy Hearts is provided in part through a grant provided by the Fulton County Commission under guidance of the Fulton County Department of Housing and Human Services.
