Milton High Senior Signs to Play Softball, Study at Nicholls State

Amanda Marshall also has been selected for inclusion in the Great Britain Softball selecton pool for the 2012 European Jr. Championships.

Amanda Marshall's dad is proud to help announce his daughter, a senior, has signed a national letter of intent to study and play softball at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA.

Marshall, a Milton High School senior, will be joining a team that is a member of the Southland Conference (NCAA Division 1), her dad, Richard Marshall, said today. Nicholls State has several conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances. She was projected for catcher and third base by Nicholls in their recruitment of her.

She has lettered on the Milton High School varsity softball team for four years, and was a member of the Milton varsity team that won the GHSA Region 6-AAAAA title. The team made it all the way to the GHSA State Elite Eight Tournament held in Columbus last month.

Marshall started playing baseball at and Bell Memorial Park and later transitioned to Fastpitch Softball at AYSA and . Most recently she has played for nationally recognized ASA JO travel teams such as the Georgia Fire 18 Gold in 2009/2010 and the Georgia Impact 18 Gold in 2010 through present. The Georgia Impact finished tied for 33rd at the 2011 ASA 18 Gold National Championships in San Diego, CA last summer.

She is also a member of the Great Britain National Softball Program and played in the European Indoor Cup in January. Marshall has been notified of her inclusion in the Great Britain Softball selection pool for the 2012 European Junior Championships, the 2012 Canadian Open and 2012 Women’s World Softball Championships being held next summer in Canada.
