MARTA's Braves Shuttle Returns for Home Opener Friday

If you're skipping work early or on vacation, grab some friends or your kids and head to the ballpark.

MARTA brings back the Braves Shuttle for the baseball team's home opener Friday night, but in a scaled back version.

The Braves open against the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:35 p.m. and are probably glad to end seven straight days on the road. Atlanta is 2-4 on the year.

Alpharetta-Milton residents can take a bus or their own cars down to North Springs Station, hop on a train and ride the rails down to the Five Points Station. A quick walk to Underground Atlanta and you'll find the shuttle buses.

This year the buses will only leave once they are full. MARTA's Cara Hodgson said in a press release on Thursday that the shuttle will start an hour and a half before the game. The modified Braves shuttle will take fans from Underground Atlanta to Turner Field and will operate an hour after the festivities end or until the shuttle pick-up line has been cleared.

A temporary Breeze ticket costs $4.50 for the round trip. If you plan to use MARTA often, spend an extra 50 cents for a permanent Breeze card that can be reloaded without an additional fee.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities, so save some cash on a downtown lot for peanuts and Cracker Jack at the game.
