King's Ridge Christian Wins to Reach Baseball Quarterfinals

The Tigers beat Mt. Paran in the third game of a series and will play Providence Christian on Tuesday.

The King's Ridge Christian Tigers took it to three games to beat Mt. Paran in Class A baseball playoffs on Thursday afternoon.

King's Ridge had lost the opener of a doubleheader on Wednesday against Mt. Paran 10-8, but came back to win the second game 5-4. That set up Thursday's finale, which the Tigers won 8-3.

The Tigers will face Providence Christian in away games. The quarterfinal series begins with a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 17 at 2 p.m. If necessary, a third game will be played the next day at 4 p.m.

Coach Jason Couch said highlights included Jeff Sneed pitching 4 1/3 innings for the victory, and John Jarrard pitching 2 2/3 innings for the save.

"Both pitchers pitched the day before, so I was very proud of the way they were able to come back," Couch said in an email interview.

Jason McCoy provided a lot of the team's offense on his, own, going 3 for 3 with a 2-run home run.

"I am incredibly proud of the way our guys came out today. We were literally down to our last out in game two on Wednesday and we were fortunate to pull it out. So to come out in game three and follow up with a solid performance, that was huge," Couch said.. "Jeff [Sneed] and JJ [Jarrard] gave us a great pitching performance, and our guys did a really nice job hitting the ball."

With no seniors on the team and half of it comprised of freshmen, the future seems bright for the Tigers.
