King's Ridge, Alpharetta High Football Players Near Top in Yardage

Joshua Dobbs was fifth in passing, while Devon Schmitt was seventh in receiving.

CORRECTION: Two Alpharetta high school football players were among the best in the state in yardage gained this season, according to statistics compiled by the Georgia High School Football Daily.

Joshua Dobbs of was fifth in passing with 3,113 yards. The junior Raider signal caller was behind quarterbacks from Calhoun, M.L. King, Lassiter and Gainesville.

The Raiders were 9-1 on the regualr season, losing in the first round of the playoffs to Lassiter.

Dobbs will play on Friday in the AT&T Rising Seniors Bowl, joining teammates Carlos Burse and DeAndre Wise on the East team.

Evan Jacks of nearby Northview High also made the top 20 in passing. His 2,300 yards was enough to put him 15th in the state this year.

Devon Schmitt had 1,022 yards receiving this year, putting him at No. 7 in the state. He wasn't far behind the leading receiver, Lassiter's Charlie Hegedus. Schmitt trailed by just 123 yards.
