High School Football Predictions

Can Milton right the ship after last week's loss?

I was humbled a bit last week in my predictions of high-school football games played in Patch coverage areas from Stone Mountain to Cumming.

After a can-you-believe-it 21-3 record the first week, I cooled off to a 16-6 mark last week (38-9 overall). I only missed badly on one pick. Really.

So, let's lace 'em up for another week. Are you ready?

Harrison at : Well, it’s clear the Milton Eagles can’t continue what they started last week — eight turnovers in a 42-16 loss to Walton. A chance for redemption and to get back into the win column comes calling this Friday when winless Harrison visits. Now before you pencil in a second win for the Eagles, consider this: Harrison may be 0-2, but both losses were one-score decisions to undefeated teams West Forsyth and Woodstock. We still like the Eagles to right the ship this week. Milton 19, Harrison 16.

Duluth at : People might have overlooked this game when perusing the schedule before the season started. But this has the makings of an entertaining game. Alpharetta (1-1) ran into strong playoff contender last week in Mill Creek in a 42-7 loss, but the Raiders were able to move the ball. The Duluth Wildcats are 2-0 and coming off a 55-21 win over Northview. OK, so it was Northview, but the Wildcats are much better than the team Alpharetta beat 44-17 last year. If you like points, you might like this game. Duluth 32, Alpharetta 30.

at Strong Rock Christian: King’s Ridge looks to go 3-0 in Friday’s game against what looks to be an improved Strong Rock team (1-1). The Tigers should win, but don’t be surprised if this is closer that last year’s 27-0 victory. King’s Ridge 24, Strong Rock 14.

Our Lady of Mercy at : Sorry, but mercy may not apply in this one. Our Lady (1-1) averages 40 points per game. St. Francis (1-0), playing a non-region schedule, is still learning the ropes. Our Lady 34, St. Francis 7.
