Patch Picker Picks Wolverines Over Eagles by a Field Goal

Despite record, Milton is still in great shape for a playoff berth. A win over West Forsyth would be a big boost for the Eagles' postseason hopes.

Every week, I pick high school football games that are played in Patch coverage areas from Cumming to Stone Mountain.

Check out this week's predictions, then let us know how you think your team will fare in the comment box below ... if you dare.

Are you ready for another round of picks?

West Forsyth at : How can a football game between a 7-1 team and a 2-5 team have playoff implications for both teams? Win or lose? Welcome to Region 6-AAAAA football, where it seems likely that at least one of the four playoff teams will have a losing record. What makes this game important? West Forsyth (7-1, 3-1 in the region) needs to win outright for any chance at winning the region title. Region leader Alpharetta (7-1, 4-0), which is idle this week, must lose twice for West to finish first (Alpharetta beat West Forsyth earlier this season and holds the head-to-head tiebreaker). Milton (2-5, 1-2) would all but lock up a playoff berth if it wins this week. The Eagles have very winnable games the last two weeks against North Forsyth and Roswell. Funny thing is if Milton wins — and it can — it would be in a tie with West Forsyth in the region standings and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Wolverines. Another funny thing, Milton is still in good position for a playoff berth even with a loss. West Forsyth 24, Milton 21.

Mount Pisgah at : A pair of 4-3 teams face each other in what should be a close Region 5-A North contest. Both are 2-2 in the subregion standings, a game behind second place. The winner stays within striking distance of the top, and a possible playoff berth. King’s Ridge 21, Mount Pisgah 20.
