Fans, Players May Be All Wet at Tonight's Football Games

With just two weeks left in the regular high school season, don't let a little drizzle make you miss tonight's games.

Rain may dampen spirits at tonight's high school football games, but it's just going to be a little drizzle if at all. Wear a raincoat, bring along a good hat and stand and cheer so you stay warm and dry. Buy some hot chocolate to keep your innards warm, too.

At game time, the chance of rain will be about 70 percent, with that dropping to 57 percent at the end of the game–even if I'm covering my fifth or sixth overtime game of the season.

It's been cool all day, and will only get cooler as the games progress. Those of us at games will deal with temperatures in the low 50s at the start, dropping to the mid-40s by game's end.

Since most of the football stadiums seem to be near creeks, they are at low spots. Coupled with the open field necessary to play, even the very slight breeze might add to the chill.

For those of you who can't find a babysitter for the very young child, or are already feeling a little chilled, you can watch the Centennial @ Alpharetta game on GPB.org live starting at 7 p.m.

Here's the short version of Scott Bernarde's predictions:

Centennial at : Alpharetta (7-1 overall, 4-0 in Region 6-AAAAA) can sew up the region championship with a win over third-place Centennial (4-4, 3-1). With a win, Centennial can force a three-way tie for first place with Alpharetta and West Forsyth with one game remaining. Alpharetta 28, Centennial 19.

North Forsyth at : The loser of this game will have its playoff aspirations ended. Actually, it’s pretty remarkable that two teams with three wins between them can still talk playoffs so late in the season. Milton 24, North Forsyth 17.

Holy Innocents’ at : The biggest game of the season awaits the King's Ridge Tigers this week. Beat first place-Holy Innocents’ (7-1, 5-0 in Region 5-A North this Friday, then get from some help from Fellowship Christian (which plays Pace Academy Friday), and the Tigers can play a meaningful region play-in game next week. King’s Ridge 21, Holy Innocents’ 20.
