Cambridge Band Raises Money To Play In London New Year's Day Parade

The Cambridge High School band program held a golf tournament last week and raised over $8,000, which will be used to fund its trip to play in the London New Year's Day Parade in 2015.

Golfers from around Milton converged on The Manor Golf and Country Club last week to raise funds for the Cambridge High School Marching Band, which is slated to play in London during the Near Year's Day Parade in 2015.

Fifty-six golfers participated in the tournament, which raised $8,300 for the Cambridge band program.

Cambridge band students will travel to London on Dec. 27 to perform for an international audience in the 29th annual London New Year’s Day Parade.

Approximately one million people are expected to line the streets of London to view the parade, and the total TV and online viewership is expected to exceed 300 million.

“Our students are very excited about this once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in the London New Years Day Parade,” said Cambridge Band Director Ryan Borger. “Marching bands are unique to the United States, and students are eagerly awaiting the chance to showcase their skills and school before multiple millions of international viewers.”
