Alpharetta Teens Play on Team Headed to Nationals

Madison Mahre and Tyler Megna joined the Phoenix last season.

Two Alpharetta teens play on the Atlanta Phoenix Pee Wee Major team, which won the State Championship on March 3, sweeping The Atlanta Fire to qualify for the National Championships.

The Atlanta Phoenix Hockey Club plays out of the Duluth Ice Forum. This group of 12 and 13-year-olds won their SYTHL division earlier this season with a record of 20 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie in League Play. They finished the regular season with an overall record of 41 wins, 13 losses and 8 ties.

The National Championship PeeWee Tournament will be held in Reston, VA, just outside Washington DC, March 28-April 1. The tourney will consist of 10 teams squaring off in four games of a round-robin section, with the top 4 ascending to a single-elimination round.
