Alpharetta Romps North Forsyth 42-7, Will Host Lassiter in Playoffs

Alpharetta finished undefeated in Region 6-AAAAA while handing North Forsyth its ninth loss of the season.

’s aerial attack proved too much for  as the Region 6-AAAAA champs romped the Raiders 42-7 Friday night.

Junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw for 333 yards and six touchdowns (to five different receivers) to lead Alpharetta (9-1).

“He is really coming into his own as a quarterback,” said Alpharetta head coach Jason Dukes of Dobbs. “He is really grasping our offense and the great thing about it is that he has yet to reach his potential.”

Adam Schildhammer caught two of Dobbs’ six touchdowns, both from nine yards out. Carlos Burse, Jalen Simmons, Kyle Wilson and Blake Rowlinson also had touchdown receptions. Simmons also had 50 yards rushing.

North Forsyth, which finished the season 1-9, had long drives of its own, but a fumble and blocked punt brought Alpharetta’s potent offense back on to the field.

“We held them at bay early, but the blocked punt and fumble cost us,” said North Forsyth coach Blair Armstrong.

Sophomore Luke Slaton carried the way for the North Forsyth offense, rushing for 54 yards on 16 carries. Antonio Adame had 49 yards on 11 carries.

Sophomore Cody Gottberg, who shared snaps with Harris Robert, found the end zone on an 11-yard scramble with 1:08 left to play in the game to make it 42-7. The touchdown was set up by a Lenny Bishop interception deep in Alpharetta territory.   

Alpharetta, the region's top seed, will host Lassiter (7-3, 3-3 in Region 5-AAAAA) next week in the first round of the playoffs. Lassiter is the fourth seed from its region.

“Our record is a tribute to the team’s hard work, dedication and commitment,” said Dukes. “They’ve really bought into what we’ve been preaching and it has manifested itself out here on the football field.”
