Alpharetta Raiders Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary

Band, players, fans take moment of silence in memory of that fateful day

The Raiders paused pre-game activities before their game with the Duluth Wildcats for a ceremony commemorating the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Fans stood in the stands and players from both teams lined up in opposite end zones as the Alpharetta Raiders Band marched into the field. As a quartet of Raiders cheerleaders led the Alpharetta police color guard across the field, the PA announcer asked the crowd to honor those who gave their lives that day in New York, Washington, D.C., and in Pennsylvania.

The band played the Star Spangled Banner to close out the ceremony, but fans weren't done. As the game was about to start, fans started chanting, "USA, USA, USA," waving flags they brought into the stadium.
