Webb Bridge Losing Administrators to Retirement, Promotion

Principal Fogartie announced retirement a week before assistant principal's promotion to Ridgeview Charter was revealed.

Webb Bridge Middle School parents just heard last week that Principal Elizabeth Fogartie will retire at the end of the school year, only to hear today that another administrator is leaving the school.

Lisa Hastey, an assistant principal at Webb Bridge Middle School, has been named principal of Ridgeview Charter School, succeeding Karen Cox, who joined the district’s central office in February.

Fogartie announced on March 15 in a letter to Webb Bridge Middle School parents that she'd be retiring.

"After over 35 wonderful years in the Fulton County School System I will be retiring at the end of this school year.  I have been greatly blessed to have spent the last 15 years as the principal of Webb Bridge Middle School," Fogartie said in her letter, which also was posted on the school's Web site.

The school system will interview and hire a principal this spring, Forgartie said.

The school received many honors during her tenure, including being named a Blue Ribbon school this school year.

Hastey joined Webb Bridge’s administrative team in 2006. Before that she was the administrative assistant at North Springs Charter High School. She also taught social studies at Milton High School and at schools in Cobb County and Fairfax, Va. She holds endorsements in both talented and gifted education as well as educational leadership.

Hastey studied at the College of William and Mary and earned a bachelor’s degree in government. After graduating, she pursued her interest in politics by serving as a staff member on two committees in the U.S. Senate. She then moved to the educational arena after a six-year stint on Capitol Hill and earned a master’s degree in secondary education from the George Washington University. She is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Mercer University.
