Student-Led Group Plans Medical Mentor Mission to Honduras

Milton High student Shaun Verma's MDJunior has plans for volunteer students and medical professional in the Central American country.

Spring Break for a group of high school and middle school students will be spent out of the country, but not at some resort. The members of MDJunior will head to Honduras with healthcare professionals on a global medical-mentor mission.

Shaun Verma, the Milton High student who founded MDJunior, said previous high school attendees call this a life changing experience. And now there is an opportunity for other students to participate.

“MDJunior” is a student led 501 ©3 non-profit leadership society, which "Inspires Selfless Service through Mentorship." It focuses on local and global initiatives via its chapters – bringing together health care professionals with middle & high school students, to build a mentoring relationship – all with a special focus on underserved communities.

Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. Most families in the Mission area live on less than $1 a day and have no access to medical care within their community i.e., have never seen a doctor outside such Missions.
