Rotary Clubs to Welcome Denmark Student to Georgia

The Alpharetta, Windward and Sandy Springs Rotary Clubs will sponsor Christine Pederson for one year as she attends Brenau University.

The Alpharetta Rotary Club, along with the Windward and Sandy Springs Rotary Clubs, will welcome Christine Pedersen from Denmark on Saturday as the new Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) student for the coming year.

The GRSP program offers scholarships to international students to come to the U.S. and study at the university level in the state of Georgia for one academic year, according to a news release from the Alpharetta Rotary Club. The program was started in 1946 after World War II and aims to promote world peace and understanding through the means of education.

Christine is 19 years old and recently graduated high school on June 28 in her hometown. She has never visited the U.S. and says that she is looking forward to her time here. Christine will live in Georgia for one year and attend Brenau University in Gainesville while staying with host families. Until the school year starts, Rotarians will host her in their own homes.
