Goodman is a decorated Vietnam War combat pilot and a retired Captain of Delta Air Lines. He and his wife have lived in Roswell for 28 years. He strongly supported family involvement in the schools and in 1986, began serving as a PTA volunteer at Mt. Park Elementary School. Subsequently, he served on and chaired the Local School Advisory Boards (LSAC) at Crabapple Middle School and Roswell High School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence under the guidance of Tom Zachary.

He is confident that his many years of participation with youth education in public schools, combined with extracurricular activities such as coaching sports and Boy Scouts, will allow him to represent the best interests of the community, the parents, and the students of Fulton County as a member of the Board of Education.
