North Fulton PTA's, Principals Recognized

Three North Fulton PTA's recently received recognition as Georgia PTA Outstanding Local Units. This award is the highest honor any local Georgia PTA can achieve and is based on the ability to cultivate involvement.

North Fulton PTA's recognized at the Georgia PTA Convention Leadership and Training conference in Atlanta were:

  • Johns Creek High School PTA – First Place (High Schools)
  • Northwestern Middle School PTA – First Place (Middle Schools)
  • Milton High School PTA – Second Place (High Schools)
“Parent involvement and support is vital to the success of a school. It continues to be the most influential factor in increasing student achievement,” said Fulton County Schools Superintendent Robert Avossa in a statement.

Milton High School also received the Georgia PTA Visionary Award for its approach in addressing and resolving community issues and concerns.

In addition, North Fulton principals were honored with Georgia PTA’s Outstanding Principals Award, which recognize those who provide excellent support of local PTAs by personally participating. Four awards were given statewide, with three in North Fulton:
  • Joy Schroerlucke – Holcomb Bridge Middle School
  • George Freiberger – Crabapple Crossing Elementary School
  • Buck Greene – Johns Creek High School
Finally, out of the 26 Georgia PTA councils, the North Fulton Council of PTAs (NFC PTA) was one of two with a perfect score. It ultimately received the Georgia PTA Top Council Exemplary Award.
