"Remember, the XC captains pick out one girl and one boy who showed outstanding teamwork, dedication, and inspiration to the team from the previous meet and award them each Monday at practice with the Captain's award," said Barb Howell, the club secretary for the Eagles Cross Country Booster Club.

Howell said the XC coaches also pick out one girl and one boy who had an outstanding performance, which was key to Milton's success, and give them the Key to the Meet award.

What season of XC is this for you?  This is my second season running XC.

How did you get started running? I got started running when I was back in 6th grade because I thought the coach was really cool and she got me to run so I've been running ever since.

Who/what has been your biggest inspiration for running? Definitely ACarr....  Every time I see him during my race, I feel the need to pick it up and make sure I get the girl in front of me.  He is also constantly making sure I do what I need to be the best I can be.  My PR is also a very big inspiration....  I NEED to beat it.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests/talents? I do a lot of volunteering, but other than running, I don't do much else.

What is your favorite XC memory?  There are way too many to pick one.  Anytime I'm with the XC team there is a new favorite memory that occurs.

What has been the best part of Milton XC?  Probably all of the pasta parties and the meet days spent with my XC family! :)

What grade are you?  Freshman

What season of XC is this for you?   This is my first season of high school XC, but I have run XC all throughout middle school for Spirit and then Alpha Crush running clubs.

How did you get started running?   My parents got me started running when we would go running on the beach during vacation.

Who/what has been your biggest inspiration for running?  My dad is my biggest inspiration for running because he has been one of my coaches the past 4 years.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests/talents?  I don't really have any other hobbies...  I like to focus on running.

What is your favorite XC memory?  My favorite XC memory is going to nationals with Alpha Crush XC last fall.

What has been the best part of Milton XC?  The best part of Milton XC is that I have a lot of friends on the team.

What season of XC is this for you?  Great question, thanks for asking...this is my 3rd season of MXC and I'll be back for a 4th!

How did you get started running?  Apparently I would run in place for a while before going down the court while playing Upward basketball when I was 5 (not a productive thing in hoop) so a running sport seemed to be a better alternative for me!

Who/what has been your biggest inspiration for running?  I love to challenge myself and each race is an opportunity for me to see what I'm made of and to better my best time.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests/talents?  According to my parents, no.......  No, I don't. :)  But I do enjoy playing the violin and singing (when no one's around).  And I can make a batch of cookies from start to finish in less time than it takes Annie Kelly to run a 5K! :) Go Annie!

What is your favorite XC memory?  I have many great memories from MXC so it is difficult for me to choose a favorite, but I'd have to go with the practice that was in the cold, pouring rain my sophomore year.  We were all a filthy, freezing mess at the end, but we bonded and felt like nothing could stop us!

What has been the best part of Milton XC?  I'd say the best part of Milton XC is the "C" -- I prefer letters that are rounded...just kidding! :)  I enjoy the races where everyone's hard work pays off!   Thanks for the award!  Go MXC!!!

What grade are you?  This is my senior year.

What words of wisdom can you offer other runners?  Listen to your body.  Risking everything to finish a workout or race can cost you a season.

What works for you to get past a running slump (ie trying to beat your PR)?   I meditate a lot.  When do you it enough, you realize how easy it is to run faster.

What are your favorite "traditions"/things you always do the day of a race?  I wake up and lather myself in butter to slip by the other runners. Then I hop in my DeLorean and cruise to school. Later, I listen to the sounds of nature while imagining my inevitable victory.  Then I lather myself in butter again.

What is your favorite running quote?  I have a couple:
"Your training is nothing.  The will is everything."    ~ Ra's al Ghul
"I am the danger."  ~ Walter White

What is your favorite XC memory this season?  Everything Alex Marshall.

What is one thing cross country has taught you?  How to approach triumph and disaster and treat those two impostors just the same.
