Milton High Students Lead Girl Talk at Northwestern Middle School

High school girls pair up with middle school girls in the student-to-student mentoring program.

students Kelly Buckman and Jessica Lee are just ninth graders this school year, but they are helping girls at navigate life.

The two girls are leaders of a local Girl Talk chapter, which is a student-to-student mentoring program pairing middle school girls with high school girls who serve as mentors.

Buckman says the girls meet after school on Tuesdays to talk about all the issues they face, usually picking one topic each week.

Lee said the group also does charity work, and through it all the girls bond with each other.

Girl Talk was founded in 2002 by Haley Kilpatrick, an Albany high school girl whose own sister had just entered middle school.
