My sweet bear, my best friend, Mike, was called home to be with the Lord around 10:30pm tonight. I had the honor of holding his hand and telling him that I loved him as he drew his last breath on Earth. Rest in the peace of Jesus, my darling, until we see each other again.......

"Mike was a mentor and a friend to his students, players, parents, volunteers and peers at Milton High School. His booming voice and enthusiasm will be sorely missed," the Milton Eagles Football website states today. Only this page is accessible today in memory of Coach Scott.

Friends of the Scott family ask the community – both the high school and wider Milton community – to consider a donation to the family by making a donation to them at MiracleforMike. "We can still be a miracle for his family," the website says.

In October 2012, Amie Peterson posted on Patch a plea to the community for help for the family. "As you can imagine, the family is drowning in just everyday living expenses as well as medical costs on top of trying to deal emotionally with this devastation," she said in her announcement asking for donations.

The Milton High School Football team also sold "Lift up Coach Scott" wristbands at the school for $5 where all proceeds go to the Scott Family. The effort expanded to schools across the region, with thousands of dollars collected at football games that didn't even involve the Milton Eagles.

"Scott Strong" T-shirts also were ordered, and are being delivered at the high school on Monday, Dec. 3. Orders are still being accepted on the Prayers for Michael Scott Facebook page.

A Care Calendar has been set up for people living in the Canton-Sixes are who are able to support the family by bringing meals. (Check the Prayers for Michael Scott Facebook page for details and the security code.)
