Local Students To Participate in Talent Competition

The elementary school students will compete in ShowStoppers 2013.


Four local students will compete in ShowStoppers 2013, an Atlanta area-wide youth talent search that is part of the annual ArtSSprings celebration of the arts in Sandy Springs.

Delaney Jack, a third grader at Summit Hill Elementary, and Ilana Mermelstein and Evan Jones, both fifth graders at Crabapple Crossing Elementary, and
Sophia Nettuno, a sixth grader at Rivers Academy, will join the competition.

Organized and hosted by Act3 Productions, this year's competition features 45 acts from more than 30 schools.  Each act has qualified for the competition by audition and has been coached by the Act3 staff.

They will perform in three show on Saturday, May 4, at Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs Plaza. Finalists in grades kindergarten through 5th grade will compete at 11 a.m., middle school finalists will take the stage at 3 p.m., and high school entrants will wrap up the day at 7 p.m.

Judges from Atlanta's entertainment community, including representatives from the Alliance Theatre and Jan Smith Studios, will award cash prizes to three winners at each show. Tickets are available at www.act3productions.org.

Act3 Productions, a 501(c)3 non-profit community theater, offers a full season of dramas, Broadway musicals, improv and new works in its state-of-the-art blackbox theater, The Act3 Playhouse. The Act3 Arts Academy offers a wide range of classes, workshops, intensives and performance opportunities for students ages pre-k through high school.
