King's Ridge Students Continue Success with Graduation

The 14 students started their post-high school life May 14.

Fourteen students graduated from King’s Ridge Christian School this year, the fifth graduating class of the 10-year-old school.

The class of 2011 students accumulated $1.1 million in scholarship awards (not including HOPE Scholarship Awards), reported Eric Molletta, director of communications for the school.

Each student  who applied for early admission to competitive colleges such as the Georgia Institute of Technology (4), University of Georgia (3), Auburn University (8), Samford University (6), University of Alabama (4) and Berry College (4) received an acceptance through early action admission. The 14 seniors submitted 85 applications to 49 colleges and universities with an average of 6.5 applications per student.

The class achieved notable academic success during the year as well. Eric Cochran and Lindsay McClure were named Commended Students in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed in the top three percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2011 competition by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Additionally, Eric Cochran and Rory Park achieved the status of “AP Scholar” for earning a score of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Others members of the class of 2011 have been accepted into colleges and universities across the country based on their academic abilities and their contribution from involvement in their school and surrounding communities. Students are attending colleges and universities as far away as Illinois, Indiana (2), Montana and Virginia.

“This has been an exceptional class and we are very proud of their many accomplishments,” said High School principal, Bob Montague. “These students are laying a strong foundation for the future of our school, especially as we look forward to our new High School building.”
