Halloween Spirit Shows in Manning Oaks' Pumpkins

Students in all of the classes at the Alpharetta elementary school helped decorate pumpkins and teachers chose the winning entries.

Wondering why a bunch of pumpkins are lined up in front of the ZPizza restaurant on Windward Parkway? It's not to celebrate a new pumpkin pizza. Those are the entries in the third annual pumpkin decorating contest at Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta.

Each class was given a pumpkin to decorate as a book character. The Kroger on Windward Parkway donated $50 towards the pumpkins.

Once the decorating was done, the pumpkins were displayed in the media center and teachers voted on their favorite book characters. Congratulations to the third grade classes for their winning version of the Wizard of Oz.  Each of the six third grade classes decorated their pumpkin as a character from the classic book. Characters included Dorothy, Glenda the Good Witch, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West.
